Mr. Sketch Chiseled Tip Marker, 22 Assorted Scented Markers. We use these with EVERY strategy!
Mr. Sketch Scented Markers, Chisel Tip, Assorted Colors, Class Pack of 192
This EXTRA wide pocket chart is a life saver for whole class Coop Strip Paragraphs.
Tips: Avoid the generic brands! Scotch and Frog tape work best. Go with wide or extra wide. This is a value pack of the 2". We use this tape to protect the walls. HOWEVER, masking tape stays up longer, and mounting putty works better on textured surfaces.
Tips: Avoid the generic brands! Scotch and Frog tape work best. Go with wide or extra wide. This is a value pack of the 3". We use this tape to protect the walls. HOWEVER, masking tape stays up longer, and mounting putty works better on textured surfaces.
Another way to go with hanging charts and protecting your walls is this Mounting Putty. We vacillate btw this and museum putty in terms of which sticks better - longer. We'd love to hear your recommendations for this! Do you have a favorite?
Another lifesaver for holding the pictures and word cards we need for Pictorial Inputs, Graphic Organizers, Comparative Inputs, Narrative Inputs, Chants and YES - LITERACY AWARDS!
3 x 24 Inches, White, Pack of 100. Tip: 100 sentence strips goes by fast in GLAD. Consider ordering a couple sets. (Coop Strip Paragraph, Emerging Readers Group, Here There Reading Group, SPC/Reading/Trading Game, Found Poetry)
It's a bit spendy, but worth it if you can swing it! Consider Post It Chart paper for Chants, the Inquiry Chart, Exploration Report, Cognitive Content Dictionary, ABC Book, and other "smaller" charts. (We found the super sticky post it brand to be the stickiest!)
Set of 3, 24". These longer pointers help you track reading with students without blocking their view. (Found Poetry, Coop Strip Paragraph, Reading Groups, etc)
Shapes Sticky Notes, Arrow Shape, 2.72 x 2.56 Inches, Neon Assorted, Self-Stick. Not an essential - but it certainly adds some fun!
Call it what you want but when you write out two full stanzas of a chant and make a "boo-boo" on the 3rd stanza - this is the cover up tape you'll want around!
This little gem works great when you're teaching multiple groups or class periods. Use the highlighter tape to process Chants with one class, then remove and use again with the next class.
The dispenser for this tape adds a bit of expense. Consider saving your dispenser and buying refill tape when you run out instead. Also avail in yellow and green. (2 pack)
These little treasures can be used in multiple ways. They're quick and easy to write on and laminate for your Narrative Input. Or, pass out for dialogue extension lessons after presenting the Narrative. Plus, they work great for Team Tasks - Add to the Walls!
This is our favorite accountability tool for team tasks. Each students adds their work in their own color. All tasks need all four colors. It's OK for different teams to have different colors. Avoid yellow and extra light colors.
This is a class set of 240 CRAYOLA colored pencils. There are other brands that cost less, but we've found a big difference in the quality. Make sure to set up a procedure for pencil sharpening before starting. :)
Every team has a color associated with it. And yes, we're crazy about color coding! These are sturdy caddies from Teacher Created Resources. 6 primary colors in the set (but avoid yellow as a team color).
But wait, there's more! If you have more than five teams, you'll need to add in some special colors like aqua, lime, and fuchsia. Teachable bonus - Tier Two color vocabulary!
Pants hangars? Not to us! These are our Team Task Hangars! The white wood style makes it easy to add the team's color right on the hangar. Teams store their (11x17 paper) team tasks on the hangars for easy clean up and distribution.
The perfect size paper for students to work collaboratively on the same page at the same time. Consider a combo of Google Doc shared tasks and paper/pencil tasks. 20 Lb Copy Paper, 8.5 x 11 - 3 Ream (1,500 Sheets)
Every once in a while it's nice to add a little pizzazz to teams that receive the most team points! These cushions are 16", and come in a variety of colors. We like to use all the same color to keep transitions tight and eliminate extra time vying for a particular color. (Set of 8)
These extra long indiv. pocket charts are just the right size for every stanza of the Here There chant! 13" x 35.5". Use for Pocket Poetry or Team/Indiv Coop. Strip Paragraph and more! HINT: You can find shorter indiv. pocket charts at the Dollar Store or Target, but they don't fit the Here There stanzas.
Notebook Journals for Students, 6 Colors (4.25 x 5.5 Inches) These work great for Interactive Journals OR Learning Logs. Their smaller size and team colors add an extra special touch - and of course - blank pages for sketching!
Oxford Two-Pocket Folders, Assorted Colors, Letter Size, 25 Per Box. In Project GLAD®, each student has a portfolio in their team's color that holds their work for that unit of study. Hint: yellow is not a team color as it is too hard to see when writing in the team's color.
Oxford 2 Pocket Folders, Textured Paper, Assorted Colors, Letter Size, 25 Per Box. This is the second set of colors you'll need for a full class set. While these portfolios are extra sturdy, it's always ok to use construction paper and/or bring in virtual portfolios as well.
Younger students love to use their own pointers when doing the strategy called Read the Walls or tracking as they read their chants and booklets. This set of student pointers includes 20 11.8" pointers. Learning is fun!
Another option to increase engagement during "Read the Walls". This set of "star wands" includes 36, 13" gold, silver, or multicolored wands. Keep them as a special honor - perhaps only for the team with the most points on the TGraph!
